Positive vs. Negative Circle
A lot of my work is based on the theory and play of opposites. After simplifying my pieces into the shape of a square and circle, I chose a circle to be the only element to use in my paintings, and I was curious where this would bring me. Circles symbolize a sphere or holes at the same time. These compositions are about spheres in spheres and holes in holes. The negative spheres open the positive to discover the hidden layer inside, and to allow a new way to emerge and grow. This process could multiply over and over, and dig into many layers under a surface. The intersections of the positive and negative spaces represent gates between various dimensions.
